About Me |
I have been working in or with the food industry for 8+ years and strive to address industry-specific needs as well as global issues (e.g., foodborne illness, food waste). Through research and teaching/training, I aim to support industry in moving towards digital transformation and Industry 4.0. I have expertise in food microbiology, industry operations, and data science, which I apply to my research on microbial food quality and safety in dairy and produce supply chains.
Since August 2020, I have been working as a Postdoctoral Associate in Dr. Renata Ivanek's group at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where I (1) develop simulation models for microbial food spoilage and food safety and contribute to other modeling projects, (2) design and teach education content on applied data science to students and food industry professionals, and (3) advise and mentor students. I received a B.S. in Biological Chemistry from Bates College in 2014 and subsequently worked for 2 years in QA/QC at Darigold in Bozeman, Montana. I received a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from Cornell University in 2020, under the primary guidance of Dr. Martin Wiedmann. |
